“Sam, I am” didn’t like green eggs and ham, but after he went through a journey in Dr. Seuss’ story, he changed his mind and loved them. No matter what the issue -- communication disputes, leadership problems, or team building, stories can help change the situation for the better.

My story is no different. I attended speech classes because they said I didn’t speak well enough. That was the beginning of questioning if I was good enough. At home, I was told I was just as good as anyone else and to not let anyone tell me differently.

My family values were very strong, and I also gained inspiration from many fairytales, parables, and cartoons. While others found joy and laughter in the silliness, I found strength and determination. Stories helped me to know that there was nothing wrong with who I was then, and I used them to let others know there is nothing wrong with who you are now!

I’ve gone from being told I didn’t speak correctly to being an award-winning speaker! From being told I wasn’t good enough to helping others realize just how good they truly are.
